In This Review
Betway have been one of the ‘one to watch’ bookmakers over the last decade. Established in 2006, Betway has managed to grow substantially in that time and now not only is a major player in the gambling industry, but have contributed sponsorship to some major sporting events such as the Premier League Darts, high profile boxing matches and Grade 1 horse races within the UK.
The company are based in Malta, but do hold a UK based license from the UK Gambling Commission meaning they are legally allowed to offer their products to punters based in the UK, and a number of other countries as well.
Since it’s introduction as a sportsbook in 2006, the company now host casino, bingo and e-sports in their betting armoury. For the purpose of this review we will be looking at how well both the sportsbook and the casino products fair.
Playing at Betway is intended to be fun and entertaining. Our commitment is to our customers – sharing the thrill with you. Sports Betting at Betway
Sports betting is where the company are strongest and arguably what they are better known for. Innovation has been an area that Betway have tried to really implement and the inclusion of a futuristic design, obscure betting markets and an extensive live betting section all contribute towards this.
One of the areas that they have been keen to improve is their mobile betting section. The app isn’t actually downloadable, but as soon as you enter the Betway sportsbook from any mobile device, the page will automatically recognise this before then showing you the mobile friendly version of their site. We will add at this point that the app looks very smart indeed and easily one of the most functional in the industry.
Odds and Markets
The pricing at Betway is actually very competitive and whilst they don’t always come out on top, they are never too far behind in the odds that we tested. What you aren’t getting is any stand out prices, which is a bit of a shame. Betting with Betway will mean that you can expect to get around industry average, but in all honesty, it’s likely that you are going to be able to find better value on a more consistent basis elsewhere.
There is very little not to like about the range of markets that are on offer. All the major sports are on offer such as rugby, golf, cricket, tennis, darts, greyhound racing and American sports, with football and horse racing being the two most popular sports to bet on.
Coverage will range depending on the time of year, but as mentioned before, football and horse racing will hold significantly larger markets and bets than most of the other sports on offer. We found that outside of the big two the actual range of games that were covered was good, but then the quality of markets did tend to fall away somewhat.
Live Betting
The live betting section at Betway is very good. Again, it’s dominated by football but you will be able to bet on a host of other sports ranging from basketball, volleyball, snooker, darts golf and loads more. It’s a similar story as above unfortunately in terms of markets for each sport, with football having a much, much larger following than most.
We did like the fact that the live betting section included a nice match centre to keep track of the latest score and any major incidents in the game. Unlike some its competitors however, it does not include a live performance program to view what is happening with each second, instead just a highlights section.
Other Features
The stats section is an area that we rally liked on the site and with this comes a plethora of information that can be used to place your bets. You can quickly see head to head meetings, current form, win percentage, last results, history between the two teams, details of prior matches, top goal scorers, top assists, any injuries, league table comparison and the over/under likelihood based on previous games.
On site, Betway make it very easy to break down the markets that will be coming up for that days betting. You can search by next hour, next 4 hours, next 24 hours and bets coming up for live betting. This may seem like a pretty ordinary feature but you will be surprised how many bookmakers don’t actually include something that works as well as this on Betway.
Casino Games at Betway
Whilst definitely no after thought, like most online sportsbooks, the casino was a natural progression for Betway and has since taken their brand to the next level. In fact, it could be argued that their casino is now just as popular as their sportsbook, offer their players a diverse gaming catalogue to play on.
Software and Games
Microgaming, one of the biggest software providers in the industry, powers the casino. With this comes a downloadable and browser based format of the casino, for ease of use (note: download not available on Mac).
As with most casinos these days, you get a good range of games to play on including slots, blackjack, roulette, video poker and a host of other table games. Live casino has recently been added tot the casino section, which can all be accessed via the same account.
The jackpot section of the casino is one that is thriving and on their site they are rolling with the news that one of the biggest scoops in online gaming came straight from one of their progressive jackpot games. A British Solider won an incredible £13million from just one spin of the Mega Moolah jackpot game, with just a 25p stake!
Other
Poker
Like the casino, the poker room at Betway is also run through the Microgaming network, which just so happens to be one of the biggest in the industry. As a poker player you will also be able to take advantage of the 200% deposit bonus up to £750 if that’s more your thing!
Bingo
Bingo has been the brands latest addition, but it’s a section of the site that has grown steadily. Games run around the clock and start from as little as 5p a card (not including free games. With that a 300% welcome bonus can be redeemed for bingo players along with a ton of prizes and rewards on offer for consistent gaming.
Payment Methods
There are a number of ways to bank with Betway, with the more popular options including Visa, MasterCard, Debit card, Maestro, Click and Buy, Direct Bank Transfer, ecoPayz, EziPay, Neteller, PayPal, Paysafecard, Skrill, UKash and EntroPay.
There are in fact a whopping 27 payment methods, but not all can be withdrawn back to, so it’s worth checking the site before making your first deposit. Note: All the methods listed are available for both deposit and withdrawals.
