It probably doesn’t come as a huge shock to find that the top 10 list found above is dominated by the big UK high street brands. These guys have been around for many many years and have spent that time battling with each other to become the ‘top dog’, resulting in better odds, websites and features for us.

But that doesn’t mean that you have to stick the the old school bookies in order to find yourself a quality site to bet on – new websites spring up all the time, and because they’re competing with the big boys they often have to pull out all of the stops to get noticed.

In the next section you’ll find our top 3 new betting sites (or rather, new compared to the ones listed above). All of them have gone above and beyond to provide a truly competitive product and are well worth checking out – so if you’re looking for somewhere new to bet, try one of the following.

New Betting Sites For 2022

Bonus (T&Cs Apply) Notes Visit
No Bonus, But Regular Offers Very solid site with plenty of offers.
SportNation Terms – T&Cs Apply 18+ #ad

We’re classifying the websites listed in the table above as new bookmakers. Now this doesn’t necessarily mean they only launched last week, rather that they’re not as established as the bookies in our top 10. It could also include gambling sites who have recently added a sportsbook to their portfolio of products, despite their other products having been around for much longer.

Some of the new sites we’re seeing at the moment are excellent and it’s clear that they’re well funded with a good product and an appetite for quality. That’s not to say that you should sign up to any old new site you find though, there are plenty of low quality white labels that offer poor odds and even worse customer service. We’d suggest you stick to the ones we’ve tested and are happy to recommend.

EFL Play-offs – 5th to 29th May 2022

The second legs of the EFL Championship play-offs will take place in midweek, starting with Monday’s match at the John Smith’s Stadium between Huddersfield Town and Luton Town. Twenty four hours later, Nottingham Forest welcome Sheffield United to the City Ground. In EFL League Two, Northampton Town, fresh from heartbreak on the final day of the normal season, play Mansfield Town on Wednesday, and Port Vale host Swindon Town on Thursday. The EFL League One play-off final between Sunderland and Wycombe Wanderers will be played at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Premier League – 17th to 19th May 2022

Before the final day of the Premier League season at the weekend, there are four fixtures taking place in midweek. On Tuesday, Liverpool make the trip to St Mary’s to face Southampton, knowing that they simply have to win. The action continues on Wednesday with three games. Everton host Crystal Palace, with safety almost within their grasp, Aston Villa and Burnley meet at Villa Park in a massive game for the visitors, and Chelsea take on Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

Three Golf Balls Side by Side

PGA Championship – 19th to 22nd May 2022

The PGA Championship from Southern Hills Country Club tees off on Thursday this week. This tournament is one of the four majors on the PGA Tour and has become a massive event in the States. This year’s edition will be the 104th and the first to be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma since Tiger Woods prevailed in 2007. The likes of Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are among the early favourites and we should be in for a cracking tournament with so many of the game’s top players in fine fettle right now.

Blurred Horse Race Finish with Jockeys Wearing Yellow and Red Silks

Preakness Stakes – 21st May 2022

The 2022 Preakness Stakes will be run this Saturday. This Grade 1 race is one of the longest running horse racing events in the States, with the first edition taking place way back 1873. The 2021 renewal was won by Rombauer, and the 2022 favourite is Epicenter, the winner of the Risen Star Stakes and Louisiana Derby. Who will come out on top at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore?

Premier League – 22nd May 2022

All 20 clubs will kick off at 4pm on Sunday on the final day of the 2021-22 Premier League season. We have several mouth-watering matches to look forward to, including the Arsenal v Everton encounter at the Emirates Stadium. At this stage we don’t quite know who will be fighting it out but the title race, the battles for the top four and to avoid relegation all seem to have every chance of going to the wire. Elsewhere on an action-packed final day, Leeds United travel to Brentford, Liverpool host Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Manchester City take on Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.

Two Tennis Balls

French Open – 22nd May to 5th June 2022

It isn’t just golf fans who get to enjoy a major as the 2022 French Open at Roland Garros Stadium in Paris gets underway this Sunday, with this being the 126th edition of this Grand Slam event. The superb Novak Djokovic won the 2021 version, with Barbora Krejcikova picking up the women’s trophy. Before a ball has been struck in anger in the French capital, Djokovic is right up there with the tournament favourites, but young Carlos Alcaraz is attracting real attention with the bookies and, of course, Rafa Nadal will be looking to add yet another crown to his tally. Iga Swiatek is the favourite on the women’s side.

Spanish Flag in the Wind

Spanish Formula One Grand Prix – 22nd May 2022

The sixth race of the 2022 Formula One season will take place this Sunday, as the drivers and teams flock to Spain for the Spanish Grand Prix. The race will be held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya over 66 frantic laps. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen have dominated so far, with Lewis Hamilton miles off the pace. Thus far Verstappen has won three Grands Prix, and Leclerc has claimed two victories from the opening five races. Who will stand on top of the podium in Catalonia this Sunday? At the time of writing, world champion Max is the bookies’ favourite.

What Makes A Good Betting Site

So how do we pick the bookmakers that make it into this site? We take a variety of factors into account (listed below in no particular order) which we look at in combination with each other. In the majority of cases they betting sites should tick all of the boxes to some degree, however we may lists sites which lack in certain aspects if they excel in others – see each bookmakers review for full details.

  • Odds – First and foremost we look at the odds as any betting site worth its salt will be competitive in its prices. Some of the betting sites will offer better odds than others on particular markets – in particular, BetVictor have often been awarded the title of ‘best overall football odds’ in multiple seasons. Peer-to-peer betting exchanges often have better odds than traditional bookmakers, but this comes at the cost of some features (namely multiple and accumulator bets) and the frequency of promotions.
  • Markets – Having great odds doesn’t mean squat if they’re not on the events you want to bet on. So we look at the number and availability of markets that the site offers – in diversity, variety and number.
  • Useability – Any decent betting site should be easy to use. The best betting sites feature intuitive layouts that enable you to place your bets quickly and easily.
  • Features – Various features are more important to some punters than others, and we try to take this into account accordingly. Features we particularly look for include mobile betting capabilities, banking methods, in-play betting and live streaming feeds.
  • Promotions & Offers – We look at the frequency and value of promotions, but not just for new customers – we also look at the ongoing promotions and specials that the site offers its existing customers. Most of the sites we list offer promotions such as cash back specials, enhanced odds, free bets, betting bonuses, accumulator bonuses and so on… A small number of betting sites even offer loyalty points or bonuses to reward you for every bet you make.
