Midweek European Football Betting Tips – 21st, 22nd & 23rd November 2017

UEFA Champions League football is back with a bang on Tuesday. Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are safely through to the knockout stages, Manchester United are all but there, but the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool still have plenty of work to do.

In the UEFA Europa League, Arsenal have progressed to the last 32 having picked up 10 points from 12 games. Meanwhile, Everton are the only English side to have already been eliminated from Europe.

We’ll be previewing nine tasty-looking European fixtures, including the blockbuster match from Turin as giants Juventus and Barcelona lock horns on Wednesday.

Champions League

Man City have picked up 12 points from a possible 12 in Group F and are safely through to the knockout stages. Meanwhile, Manchester United have also won all of their games, but they are not mathematically in the knockout stages just yet, as Basel and CSKA Moscow both have six points – one more point will do it for the Red Devils, though. Liverpool sit top of a tight Group E, whilst Chelsea are second in their group. As for Tottenham, they have done superbly well to qualify from a tough group with two games to spare.

Borussia Dortmund v Tottenham Hotspur – 21st November

Peter Bosz’s Borussia Dortmund and Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur meet at the Westfalenstadion in Group H on Tuesday night. Spurs have advanced to the knockouts, whilst Dortmund have an awful lot of work to do to join them.

The Black and Yellows have picked up just two points from their opening four games, losing two along the way. Spurs, meanwhile, have won three and drawn one, taking four points off the mighty Real Madrid in the process.

The Signal Iduna Park is a difficult ground to play at, but Tottenham are more than capable of leaving with a point. Back the 1-1 draw at 13/2 with Betfair.

Manchester City v Feyenoord – 21st November

Manchester City will be hoping to keep up their 100% record in Group F when they welcome pointless Feyenoord to the Etihad Stadium this Tuesday. City are the overwhelming favourites to seal another win.

Before this weekend’s Premier League fixture at Leicester City, Man City have won a staggering 16 of their 17 matches in all competitions. They are through to the last 16, but they will now want to go on and win the group.

The Eredivisie champions have made an indifferent start to their domestic campaign, and they will no doubt find life testing in Manchester. The Citizens ran out comfortable 4-0 winners in Rotterdam, and they are priced at 8/1 (Betfair) to beat Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men 4-0 again.

Sevilla v Liverpool – 21st November

Eduardo Berizzo’s Sevilla and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool do battle at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Seville on Tuesday night for a huge Group E fixture.

Liverpool are one point clear of Sevilla at the top of a very tight group, with Spartak Moscow sniffing around in third place on five points. A win for one of these two on Tuesday will put them in a commanding position in the group.

The pair were very hard to split in the 2-2 draw at Anfield a couple of months ago, and we can see another close encounter unfolding in this one. Have a punt on the draw, which you can get at 12/5 with Ladbrokes.

Qarabag v Chelsea – 22nd November

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea will be looking to get back on track after a 3-0 loss to Roma last time out in Europe. This Wednesday, the Premier League champions travel to Baku to face Qarabag.

In the reverse match at Stamford Bridge in September, the Blues thumped the side from Azerbaijan 6-0. However, Chelsea have only won once in Group C since. Roma are top on eight points, then come Conte’s troops on seven and Atletico Madrid on three.

Chelsea should have no problems seeing off the Azerbaijani champions on Wednesday, so check out Betfair’s top price of 13/10 for the away side to win with a -1 goal handicap.

Basel v Manchester United – 22nd November

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have been scintillating in Europe so far. The Red Devils, who have 12 points out of 12 to their name, make the trip to St Jakob-Park to play Basel on Wednesday.

United are six points clear at the top of Group A, and one more point will take them through as group winners. Basel, meanwhile, sit second on six points from four games on goal difference.

This has the potential to be a tricky fixture for Mourinho’s men, but we fancy them to get the job done in Switzerland. Take a look at Bet365’s strong odds of 10/3 for Man United to win and both teams to score.

Juventus v Barcelona – 22nd November

The standout tie of the round comes from the Allianz Stadium in Turin as Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus and Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona meet in a heavyweight clash in Group D.

With these two European giants looking good for a place in the last 16, both will be going all out to finish top of the group. A win for Juve on Wednesday will put them level with Barca on 10 points.

We believe that these two will cancel each other out in Turin, so put your money on Bet365’s 5/2 for the draw.

Draw – 5/2 at Bet365

Paris Saint-Germain v Celtic – 22nd November

Unai Emery’s Paris Saint-Germain have looked devastating in every competition so far this term. This Wednesday, PSG will be hoping to confirm top spot in Group B when they entertain Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic at the Parc des Princes.

When Paris travelled to Glasgow in September, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani were all on the scoresheet in an emphatic 5-0 victory for the Ligue 1 outfit. PSG have scored 17 and conceded none in Group B.

This will no doubt be another comfortable triumph for the French league leaders on Wednesday. Coral are offering 10/11 for the hosts to win to nil, a price that we feel is worth taking advantage of.

Europa League

The two English sides have had mixed emotions in the Europa League this season. Arsene Wenger’s Gunners are safely through to the last 32 after advancing from Group H. The Toffees, meanwhile, are out having taken just one point from a possible 12 in Group E.

Cologne v Arsenal – 23rd November

Having won three and drawn one of their four Group H matches, Arsenal are safely through to the knockout stages of this year’s Europa League. This Thursday, they travel to Cologne, who sit bottom on three points.

The Gunners kicked off their Europa League journey with a routine 3-1 home victory over Cologne, which they followed up with wins over BATE Borisov and Red Star Belgrade.

Victory in Germany on Thursday will be enough for Arsene Wenger’s men to go through as group winners. The Arsenal win is available at 9/5 with Bet365.

Arsenal to Win – 9/5 at Bet365

Everton v Atlanta – 23rd November

After accumulating just one point from four fixtures in Group E, Everton have already been eliminated. This Thursday, they will be looking to restore some pride when they welcome Atalanta to Goodison Park.

The Italian side, who thumped the Toffees 3-0 in September, are top of the group ahead of Lyon on goal difference. A win in Merseyside will take them through to the last 32.

We fancy Everton to go out on a high, so take a look at the tempting price of 11/2 (Betfred) for the hosts to win with a -1 goal handicap on Thursday.
