Weekend Football Betting Tips – 4th, 5th & 6th May 2018

Manchester United secured their place in the Premier League’s top four with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Arsenal last Sunday. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to join the Red Devils in next year’s UEFA Champions League with wins this weekend.

It’s the final day of the EFL Championship on Sunday, with a lot still to be settled in England’s second tier. Cardiff City will join Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League with a home win over Reading.

Premier League

The Premier League title race is over and the battle for the top four looks to be settled, but the fight for survival is starting to heat up. With West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Southampton all picking up points last weekend, West Ham United, Huddersfield Town and Swansea City have been dragged further into the mire. The Hammers, Terriers and Swans all face tricky away games this weekend.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester United – 4th May

The Premier League action gets underway on Friday night as Chris Hughton’s Brighton & Hove Albion welcome Jose Mourinho’s Man United to the Amex Stadium. Having booked their place in the Champions League, United will want to seal second spot.

The Seagulls look to have survived their first season in the Premier League as they sit five points clear of the drop zone in 14th place. However, Hughton’s side are winless in seven.

United have won their last three and are strong favourites to leave the Amex with another victory this Friday. Mourinho’s men to win with a -1 goal handicap is nicely priced at 7/4 with Bet365.

Stoke City v Crystal Palace – 5th May

Stoke still have plenty of work to do, while Crystal Palace practically ensured survival with an emphatic 5-0 home win over Leicester City last weekend. This Saturday, the Potters entertain the Eagles in a huge fixture at the Bet365 Stadium.

Stoke’s performances have been okay, but Paul Lambert’s team are without a win in 12 games. As for Palace, they have won three, drawn two and lost just one of their last six to move away from the bottom three.

With Stoke desperate for a win, we can see City sealing a crucial three points on Saturday. Check out Bet365’s top odds of 17/2 for the home team to beat Roy Hodgson’s boys 1-0.

Everton v Southampton – 5th May

On Saturday evening, Everton host Southampton at Goodison Park. The Saints would love to follow up last weekend’s win over Bournemouth with another victory in this one.

However, Mark Hughes’ men are coming up against a revitalised Toffees side who have won four of their last seven. Meanwhile, Southampton’s victory over their south coast rivals last Saturday was their first league triumph since early February.

This is a far bigger game for Southampton as they seek safety, but we fancy it to end all square on Merseyside. Betfair are offering 7/2 for the draw and both teams to score.

Manchester City v Huddersfield Town – 6th May

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will be looking for another win when they entertain David Wagner’s relegation-threatened Huddersfield at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In what has been a phenomenal Premier League season for the newly crowned champions, Man City have dropped just five points on their own patch all season. As for the Terriers, they have lost 11 of their 17 away games.

This should be a walk in the park for the Citizens, so have a punt on the hosts to be winning at half time and full time at 4/9 with Coral.

Chelsea v Liverpool – 6th May

The final televised Premier League fixture of the weekend is arguably the biggest as Antonio Conte’s Chelsea and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool do battle at Stamford Bridge. A win for the Reds would guarantee them a place in the top four.

The Blues have improved in recent weeks, winning three Premier League games in a row to keep their Champions League dreams alive. Liverpool, who have other things on their mind, have drawn their last two in the league.

By the time this one kicks off on Sunday, Klopp’s side could be in the Champions League final. They may not be at their best in the capital at the weekend, but we still think the Reds will leave the Bridge with a draw (13/5 at BetVictor).

Championship

A win for Cardiff this Sunday will see them book their place in next season’s Premier League. However, if Neil Warnock’s men slip up against Reading, victory for Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham at Birmingham City will be enough to claim second place for the Cottagers. At the other end of the table, the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Burton Albion, Barnsley, Birmingham and Reading are still in trouble on the final day.

Cardiff City v Reading – 6th May

Cardiff welcome Reading to the Cardiff City Stadium knowing that a win will be enough for promotion. If Fulham lose at St Andrew’s, the result in the Welsh capital will not matter. Warnock’s men have their destiny well and truly in their own hands.

Paul Clement’s side still need a point to make sure of survival. However, they head to Wales having lost each of their last five away matches. Cardiff, meanwhile, have won eight of their last nine Championship games on home soil.

On paper, this should be an easy three points for the Bluebirds, even with so much at stake. Warnock will no doubt work his magic again, and we like the look of BetVictor’s 6/1 for Cardiff to book their place in the Premier League with a 2-0 win.
