Midweek Football Betting Tips – 17th, 18th & 19th April 2018

We have bonus midweek action to look forward to in the Premier League, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea all featuring from Tuesday to Thursday.

With things starting to reach fever pitch in Italy, we will also be checking out the top Serie A fixtures of the week as second placed Napoli welcome Udinese, while leaders Juventus head to Crotone. Can the club from the south stop Juve claiming yet another Serie A crown or will the Turin-based giants be able to edge towards a magnificent seven in a row?

Premier League

With Tottenham still needing points to make certain of a place in the UEFA Champions League, Spurs will be looking for a win at the Amex Stadium against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday. Also in midweek, Man Utd will want to strengthen their grip on second spot when they make the trip to Bournemouth, while in-form Burnley host out-of-sorts Chelsea on Thursday night. Most of the big issues in the top flight are virtually settled but there are still profits to be had!

Brighton & Hove Albion v Tottenham Hotspur – 17th April

Chris Hughton will be hoping to get the better of his old club as Brighton host Tottenham at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night. The Seagulls will be eager to move even further away from the bottom three with a win here.

The Lilywhites have been exceptional away from home this season, with only Manchester City accumulating more points on the road so far. Albion have had an excellent season in the Premier League and should maintain their place in the top flight next term.

Tottenham’s qualities should shine through in this one. With that in mind, we like the look of Mauricio Pochettino’s boys to win -1, which is available at 23/20 with Coral.

Bournemouth v Manchester United – 18th April

Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth welcome Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd to the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Red Devils will move a step closer to securing second spot with a win on the south coast in midweek.

Since losing at Newcastle United in February, Mourinho’s men have been strong on their travels, winning three and drawing one of their past four away from home in all competitions. In their last away outing, United came from behind to beat rivals Man City 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium. That delayed City’s celebrations but more importantly it improved United’s hopes of finishing ahead of Liverpool in second.

Bournemouth are pretty much safe for another season, but we can see them losing this one. The visitors to win to nil is priced at 2/1 with Ladbrokes and given United’s great defensive record those odds look big.

Burnley v Chelsea – 19th April

Chelsea are well off the pace in the hunt for the top four, but Antonio Conte’s side won’t give up hope until it’s mathematically impossible. The Blues are at Turf Moor to face Burnley on Thursday and will be in for a stern examination.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets have had a season to remember, spending practically all year in the top eight. As for Chelsea, their disastrous form in 2018 looks set to cost them a place in next year’s Champions League.

Turf Moor has been a fortress at times for Dyche’s troops this term, and we fancy the Clarets to hold the Blues to a draw in this one. Check out Betfred’s 6/1 for the 1-1 stalemate.

Serie A

Juventus may currently hold an advantage at the top of Serie A, but the race for the title in Italy is not over just yet. On Wednesday night, second placed Napoli entertain Udinese at the Stadio San Paolo, while table-toppers Juventus travel to the Ezio Scida to play Walter Zenga’s Crotone.

Napoli v Udinese – 18th April

Napoli entertain Udinese at the San Paolo on Wednesday as they look to keep their title aspirations alive. Too many dropped points in recent weeks have seen Maurizio Sarri’s side slip away, but can Gli Azzurri get back on track over the next week or so?

Napoli have been a credit to Serie A this year, pushing Juventus all the way. As for Udinese, they have had another season of mid-table security.

The team from Naples head into this clash as the clear favourites to come out on top. Partenopei should have no problems, so back the home team to win 3-0 (6/1 at BetVictor).

Crotone v Juventus – 18th April

If Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus keep on winning, Napoli will not catch them. That’s simple maths and on Wednesday, the Old Lady travel to Calabria to face Crotone fully expecting to return with all three points.

After last week’s heartache at the Santiago Bernabeu, Juve must lick their wounds and get back to business in Serie A. Crotone, who are embroiled in a fascinating relegation battle, are in desperate need of a positive result.

In truth, Wednesday’s match will surely be a stroll in the park for the Italian champions. We like the look of Juve to win both halves, which Betfair has priced at tempting odds of 12/5.
