Weekend Football Betting Tips – 10th, 11th & 12th March 2018

With just a couple of months of the season remaining, we’ve certainly reached the business end of the year. Manchester City may have the Premier League title all but sewn up, but the race for the top four and the battle for survival is beginning to get very interesting indeed.

There’s also a lot to play for in the EFL Championship with just a handful of games left. Wolverhampton Wanderers’ lead at the top has been cut to six points and they face two tough away games within a week. We should be in for another thrilling weekend of football in the second tier, with plenty of teams in the play-off battle and the relegation fight looking set to go to the wire too..

Premier League

Man City are probably just a few games away from lifting their third Premier League trophy. Before this weekend’s fixtures, Pep Guardiola’s men are a staggering 16 points clear at the top of the table. On Monday, Man City will be looking for another win when they travel to Stoke City. Manchester United’s match with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon is the biggest fixture of the round and a draw or Liverpool win will edge City closer to the title.

Manchester United v Liverpool – 10th March

The Premier League weekend gets up and running with a huge affair between Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Old Trafford. Being the hosts, the Red Devils are the slight favourites in this one but their opponents are in stunning form at the moment.

United came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Selhurst Park on Monday, firing themselves back into second place in the process. They needed a late, late winner from Nemanja Matic to complete their fightback from 2-0 down but Mourinho will have been pleased with his team’s resolve. Liverpool had been second after beating Newcastle United on Saturday. Just two points separate these two rivals in the PL and this clash could be decisive in which club finishes behind City.

This is a massive fixture for both, but we can see Klopp’s in-form Liverpool sealing a vital victory at the Theatre of Dreams. The 1-0 away win is available at the top price of 9/1 with Bet365 and with a history of 1-1 and 0-0 draws between the teams that looks a big price.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace – 10th March

After a poor performance at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea will be hoping to hit back when they host Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.

The Blues were outfought, outclassed and outplayed at Man City last weekend, so we’re expecting a reaction this Saturday. Palace, meanwhile, let a two-goal lead slip to lose 3-2 to Man Utd at Selhurst Park on Monday night.

Chelsea should be too strong for the struggling Eagles in this one. The Blues have been generally good at home of late and also have done well against the lesser sides. Moreover, Palace are still struggling with a huge number of injuries. Because of that, we feel there’s good value in Betfred’s 10/11 for the home team to win -1 this Saturday.

Arsenal v Watford – 11th March

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal will be on the lookout for their first Premier League win in over a month when they welcome Javier Gracia’s Watford to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners are on a woeful run of form at present, winning just four of their last 15 matches in all competitions. They have lost their last four in all competitions (prior to their midweek game with Milan – so that could become five in a row!). As a result, Wenger’s side are a staggering 13 points adrift of the top four. As for the Hornets, they sit in a respectable ninth place on 36 points.

This is a huge fixture for Arsenal as they look to put things right as soon as possible and luckily for them it’s at home, where they remain tough to beat. The hosts should have enough to prevail in this, so have a punt on the home win and both teams to score at 9/5 with Ladbrokes.

Arsenal Win & BTTS – 9/5 at Ladbrokes

Bournemouth v Tottenham Hotspur – 11th March

Sunday’s late kick off takes place at the Vitality Stadium as Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth host Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites, who are fourth, will fancy their chances on the south coast.

The Cherries conceded right at the death to drop two points at Leicester City last weekend. Spurs, meanwhile, made light work of Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium.

When these two went head-to-head in the national stadium back in October, Christian Eriksen’s goal sealed a narrow 1-0 win for Tottenham. We envision something similar to unfold on Sunday, with the 1-0 Spurs victory available at big odds of 17/2 (Bet365).

Tottenham Hotspur to Win 1-0 – 17/2 at Bet365

Stoke City v Manchester City – 12th March

The final Premier League fixture of the round involves the champions elect as Man City make the trip to the Bet365 Stadium to take on Stoke. Naturally, the Citizens are the strong favourites going in.

Stoke may sit 19th in the table, but Lambert certainly has time to turn things around. As for Man City, they are just a few wins away from sealing the Premier League title, potentially in record time. In truth, this could be a long night for the Potters.

The leaders have the best away record in the PL by far, winning 11 of 14 games on the road. This will no doubt be another routine win for Guardiola’s boys, so back Man City to be winning at half time and full time at 3/4 with Ladbrokes.

Manchester City HT/FT – 3/4 at Ladbrokes

Championship

The likes of Wolves, Cardiff City and Aston Villa did not play last weekend due to the snow, so not much changed at the very top of the division. However, the standout result of the weekend came from Pride Park as high-flying Fulham sealed a massive 2-1 win over Derby County to leapfrog the Rams into fourth place. Before this weekend’s fixtures, all 24 Championship clubs are in action in midweek, too.

Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers – 10th March

Aston Villa have turned themselves into genuine promotion contenders with a fine run of results over the past few months. This Saturday, the Villans welcome leaders Wolves to Villa Park for a tasty Midlands derby.

Villa are not giving up on an automatic spot as they hunt down Cardiff in second. Wolves have had a little blip in form lately, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are still the strong favourites to win the title.

We should be in for a cracking match at Villa Park, but we can see these rivals playing out an entertaining stalemate. Take a look at the draw and over 2.5 goals at the big price of 14/1 with Coral.

Draw & Over 2.5 Goals – 14/1 at Coral

Nottingham Forest v Derby County – 11th March

There’s another derby match from the Championship to look forward to on Sunday as Aitor Karanka’s Nottingham Forest entertain Gary Rowett’s Derby at the City Ground.

Forest have moved away from trouble with a couple of wins of late, they will now be looking to push themselves as high up the table as possible. Derby’s little slump in form has seen them drift away from the top two in recent weeks and they must be careful if they are to avoid their usual end of season slump.

This is always a massive fixture for both sets of fans, and we can see Sunday’s showdown being another thrilling East Midlands derby. However, we fancy the Rams to hit back in this one, so put your money on the Derby victory at 29/20 at Betfred.
