This will be the 52nd Big Game as the champions of the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC) go head-to-head in the end-of-season showdown. Thousands will attend, millions will be watching around the world, but who out of the Eagles or Patriots will come out on top in Minneapolis at the weekend?
Who Will Win The Super Bowl?
Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots will be making their third Super Bowl appearance in four seasons, winning Super Bowl XLIX and LI. Last season, the Patriots, who were 21-3 down at the halfway point, secured a stunning comeback win over Atlanta Falcons in the NRG Stadium in Houston. In the playoffs, New England saw off Tennessee Titans 35-14 in the Divisional match, before beating Jacksonville Jaguars 24-20 in the AFC Championship. The American Football Conference champions will fancy their chances of retaining their crown this weekend.
However, they are coming up against a Philadelphia Eagles team who have come on leaps and bounds this season. The Eagles, coached by Doug Pederson, were no doubt one of the surprise packages in this year’s National Football Championship, winning 13 of their 16 regular season games, levelling their best record in the franchise’s history. Having lost their last appearance in the Super Bowl to the Patriots back in 2004, Philadelphia will be out for revenge in this one.
After an impressive regular season, the Eagles beat last year’s Super Bowl runners-up Atlanta Falcons 15-10 in the Divisional playoffs. They then stormed to a deserved 38-7 NFC Championship win over Minnesota Vikings at the Lincoln Financial Field in Pennsylvania. Pederson’s boys could cause the five-time Super Bowl champions one or two problems in the US Bank Stadium this Sunday.
