Weekend Football Betting Tips – 27th, 28th & 29th May 2017

The domestic football season may be all but over in England, but there’s still a lot to be settled before we shut the door on another memorable campaign. This weekend, we’ve got the Emirates FA Cup final, as well as the Sky Championship and Sky Bet League Two play-off finals to look forward to.

That’s not all though, as on Saturday the DFB Pokal final takes place in Berlin, as well as the Copa del Rey final in Madrid. Stand by for what promises to be a thrilling weekend of finals.

FA Cup Final

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, who stormed to the Premier League title this term, will be going for a spectacular league and cup double at the weekend, as they square off against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley. Can the Gunners end a disappointing season with a record 13th FA Cup triumph, or will Conte top off a memorable first year in England with a double?

Chelsea v Arsenal – 27th May

Despite failing to finish in the top four of the Premier League for the first time in 20 years, Arsenal have reached their third FA Cup final in four seasons. Unfortunately for the Gunners, they are coming up against the best team in the land at present, Chelsea.

These two have not met in this competition since April 2009, when the Blues came out on top with a 2-1 win at Wembley at the semi-final stage. This season, Wenger’s men won 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium back in September, with Chelsea returning the compliment with a 3-1 win of their own at Stamford Bridge in February.

This final could go either way, but we’re backing the Premier League champions to seal a stunning double. The standout bet is Chelsea to win and both teams to score, which is priced at 5/2 with Betfred.

Championship Play-off Final

Both Reading and Huddersfield Town overcame nail-biting semi-finals to set up this tasty Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium on Monday afternoon. The Royals got the better of Fulham, who were the bookies’ favourites to seal promotion to the Premier League before a ball was kicked in the play-offs. Meanwhile, Huddersfield beat Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday on penalties, after there was nothing to split the two in over 210 minutes of tense football.

Huddersfield Town v Reading – 29th May

We were treated to two sensational Championship play-off semi-finals, with Huddersfield Town and Reading worthy finalists. Before the play-offs got underway, many people were predicting a Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham final, but these two defied the odds yet again.

Neither Reading or Huddersfield were expected to be anywhere near the play-off picture this term – in fact, they were tipped for relegation. However, one of the two will be playing Premier League football next season. In the regular Championship campaign, both won their home fixture against the other by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

We can foresee a tight final unfolding at Wembley on Monday, with the bookies having a very hard time calling this one. The Terriers are the slight favourites, but we believe the value is in Ladbrokes’ odds of 23/10 for the Royals to win in the 90 minutes.

League Two Play-off Final

Gary Bowyer’s Blackpool meet Paul Tisdale’s Exeter City in Sunday’s League Two play-off final. These two endured two action-packed semi-finals, with late goals sealing their passages through to the big final. Blackpool, who were in the Premier League not so long ago, left it late at Kenilworth Road to beat Luton Town. As for Exeter, Jack Stacey’s last-minute strike was enough to see off Carlisle United St James Park.

Blackpool v Exeter City – 28th May

The League Two play-off final between Blackpool and Exeter City also promises to be a fascinating affair. There’s virtually nothing to split the pair in the betting, which should make for an interesting contest in the national stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Tangerines sneaked into the play-offs at the death, they also left it extremely late to book their place in the final. Exeter finished their campaign just a point ahead of Bowyer’s boys, they too sealed their passage through to Wembley in dramatic, late style.

The Seasiders took four points off Tisdale’s troops this term, and will back themselves to return to the third tier of English football at the weekend. Sky Bet are offering evens for Blackpool to lift the trophy on Sunday, a price we feel is well worth taking advantage of.

DFB Pokal Final

Niko Kovac’s Eintracht Frankfurt and Thomas Tuchel’s Borussia Dortmund go head-to-head in the German DFB Pokal final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Saturday night. BVB will be on the lookout for a fourth German Cup triumph, whilst Frankfurt will be vying for a fifth. In the regular Bundesliga season, Dortmund finished third, with Kovac’s men 22 points behind in 11th.

Eintracht Frankfurt v Borussia Dortmund – 27th May

Both Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund had indifferent seasons in the Bundesliga this term. Frankfurt, who were challenging for a UEFA Champions League spot before Christmas, won just one of their last 15 league matches to finish in the bottom half.

Meanwhile, BVB were nowhere near the title race, as they had to sit and watch Bayern Munich storm to a fifth consecutive Bundesliga championship. They also had to deal with the meteoric rise of Red Bull Leipzig. In the regular season, Frankfurt won their home fixture against Dortmund 2-1, whilst Borussia beat the Eagles 3-1 at the Signal Iduna Park.

Tuchel’s side should have no problems seeing off Frankfurt in the German capital on Saturday, it could just be a case of how many the Black and Yellows win by. With that said, check out Bet365’s 11/4 for Borussia Dortmund to win with a -2 goal handicap in Berlin.

Copa del Rey Final

Finally, Luis Enrique takes charge of his last Barcelona match on Saturday, as Blaugrana play Alaves in the Copa del Rey final at Atletico Madrid’s Vicente Calderon. After missing out to rivals Real Madrid in the title race in La Liga, Barca will be hoping to cap a disappointing season off with a Spanish Cup win at the weekend. Alaves will need to be at their very best to cause a huge upset against the 28-time, record Copa del Rey winners.

Barcelona v Alaves – 27th May

As expected, Barcelona head into the Copa del Rey final as the overwhelming favourites to seal a 29th crown. Alaves, meanwhile, will be looking for their first Spanish Cup triumph.

After watching rivals Real Madrid pip them to the post for the league title this term, Barca will be out for blood in this one. Also, the players will be hoping to give their boss the perfect send-off, before he leaves the Camp Nou in the summer.

Barca were beaten just once at home all season, which was coincidentally by Alaves in a La Liga fixture back in September. However, in the reverse match, Enrique’s boys hit them for six without reply. We can’t see any problems for Barcelona on Saturday, so take a look at BetVictor’s 6/1 for them to win 3-0 in Madrid.
